Scope: Your Toast tap card reader (directly attached to the terminal) is not recognizing chips, taps (NFC) or swipes.
1. First select the 3 dots in the top right hand corner of the POS Terminal and select Device Status.
2. Select the Device tab and check the credentials of the reader under Card Reader Details. If the card reader is not showing up or listed as offline then it may be a connection issue. Detach the card reader from the terminal and install it on the other side (A small side panel can be removed to reveal a micro-usb connection). If this fixes your issue. The port of the terminal has gone bad. You will need to submit a ticket to IT with the terminal S/N included so we may replace the terminal.
3. If the card reader shows up as connected press and hold the large button on the back of the terminal and select reboot. After the terminal boots back up re-test the card reader. If it's working no further action is required.
4. Otherwise close out the Toast app to the home screen by hitting the circle icon at the bottom of the terminal screen. The select settings > Apps & Notifications. Find the Toast POS app and select Storage > Clear Cache. After the cache is cleared go back into the Toast app and check the device status again. If the card reader is online and recognizing cards no further action s required.
5. If the card reader is still not reading and you have tried multiple cards. Find the S/N located on the card reader and submit a ticket to IT so we may replace the device asap.
